Holiday Seasons and Close Season Fishing

We have three seasons in Portugal

HIGH SEASON -- runs from 1st May to 30th September.

This is the best time to bring the family as there is so much for them to do and the weather is right for it. The days are warmer, stay lighter for longer and there is plenty of sunshine. PLUS its a quiet season for fishing!

LOW SEASON -- runs from 1st October to 31st April

This period is likened by many to an English summer or spring, but without the crowds, queues or traffic jams. A good time to relax and enjoy some good fishing and as an added bonus, its cheaper!

CLOSE SEASON -- runs from 14th March until 14th May and reflects the Close Season for coarse fishing in Portugal, we are able to offer angling associated with the sea angling species, marlin, shark and Corvina etc. during this period.

Please Note: We are open 52 weeks of the year. We do have a closed season for most coarse fish mid March to mid May but we seem to catch a lot of big Carp fishing with worms for Eels then. The big Blue Sharks turn up in April / May and the rivers are full of BIG Mullet so we always have something to fish for.
