Welcome to Tightlines-Portugal |
|
May I immediately offer you a warm welcome to the Tightlines-Portugal.com website.
Our speciality is well planned, personally led and organised Fishing Holidays in Portugal.
Our aim here is to provide access to organised guided coarse fishing trips and holidays and sea angling holidays here in Portugal. We are able to provide excellent carp fishing for super carp, barbel fishing for mega barbel and black mouth bass in the many dams and huge barbel and sturgeon to 155lb in rivers in the region. Likewise the Shark, Marlin and sea fishing in this part of Portugal, the Algarve is outstanding and with the opportunity to hook a new personal record or even a world record from our charter service.
In addition to this we have on offer the opportunity for those of you who are seeking a 'different' experience from the waterparcs and the beach whilst out here on a regular family holiday. We are able to organise and provide you with both our coarse fishing for carp, bass and barbel in the Alentejo or sea fishing for both shore, rock and beach fishing for bass etc and for the real enthusiast, charter boats for record breaking marlin fishing, shark fishing and corvina fishing along the Algarve coast. You can arrange these trips in advance or check availability from the hotel/villa when you are out in Portugal.
NB: booking in advance ensures we are available to provide you with a trip or two.
Although some of these are all targeted at the more dedicated anglers who wish to fish with friends, all of what we offer is family friendly and combining an angling holiday with one with the wife and kids should not be discounted, there is so much more for a family to do other than fish or sit in the sun.
I won't ask you to just take my word for it, I am after all rather biased, but please do take a look at the pages on the web site and if you have any particular requirements or needs please do get in touch by mail, email or the telephone and discuss these with me directly. We look forward to hearing from you being able to provide you with a holiday to remember.

"Hi John this is Kevin, many thanks for last weeks fishing trip, it was great and I will be back same time next year with 2 of my mates. As you know I did not have a great experience last year in Spain, fishing with 3 mates only 6 rods for 4 anglers, no feed of any kind, it was really just a taxi service not guiding, so I was VERY relieved to see all your gear in the big transit and gobsmacked when you had to pick up 40kgs boilies from the front seat to make room for me.
On arriving at the water is was a big boost to my confidence that 2 of your experienced (fishing next year in the world carp classic) mates were there fishing, obviously they would not be wasting their time on a poor water.
Just to let any other anglers now what kind of guide you are I would like to mention that you gave me all the runs on my rods and yours until I had a new pb at 26lbs I then increased this to 30lb 8oz then again to 31lb 8oz. I kept a record of all the fish of the week and the average size was a very respectable 21lbs+.
The gear i used from the Force 8 bivy to your 4 carp rods with Shimano bait runners was good and what about the food you supplied from the back of the van using your full cooker - proper meals like mum used to cook. Hope you or your mates break the Portugese carp record, its in this water - regards to Ian, Chris and Nigel who turned up over the week."

New Sea Fishing trips for Tightlines in 2012 |
|
My local tackle shop has a new sea fishing boat that we plan to use for some of this summers trips, so on 2nd of january with temperatures near 20ºC we booked a trip to sample both the fishing and get to know the boat and its skipper.
We steamed out 10 miles at 25 knots in this very nice £100,000 pound boat, the english speaking skipper took us to 3 secret rocky marks where we had none stop action all day.
On this trip we were just testing things out and just fished for whatever came along, but on future trips we will be doing things differently. The boat and skipper have a very good license which will allow us to operate at greater range targeting 100lb grouper in deep water using braid and electric reels, as well as big game fishing for marlin and tuna.

New Venue for Tightlines Visitors in 2012 |
|
We are still out pleasure fishing and today 28th December were invited to test fish what is the 1st day ticket water in the South of Portugal.
The weather was great with temperatures near 20ºC and we managed to catch 6 carp. The fish were only small, but clearly shown by the shape of the fish, that this water has good potential for the future.
This water was stocked with doubles 12 years ago and again in 2011 with mirror carp to 15lbs. The long term plan is for this dam to be the match water with good mixed fishing. Access roads have been dug out and fishing pegs made from staging allowing on normal pegs for the water levels to rise by 4ft with this winters rain.

Some quality carp from the river. |
|
Just home from trip to our local river seeking out the monsters we have reported on losing in some of my previous reports in 2011.
We have uprated our gear to 45lb braid mainline and 35lb hooklinks - this probably sounds very strong, but we have all hooked and lost some very big fish on many of these trips, when fishing with regular specimen tackle. Extremely powerful fish that we could not extract on 25lb line.
We have found these fish are across the river close to some BIG snags - on this trip we did not hook any of these particular monsters, but had carp out into doubles, best 18lb 4oz, these fish were in beautiful condition, having probably never seen a hook in their lives.
These fish were no problem to extract from the area, so the jury is still out on what we have been losing 30lb+ carp or 20lb+ barbel? Specimens of which we have seen in the area in the past.
Watch this space as I'll report on them when we catch them!
John. |
