Located about a 1 hour drive from the Algarve and 1 hour 30mn from Lisbon, this holiday uses is a secluded rural hotel in the middle of working farmland. This hotel offers quality facilities that are rarely equalled here in this part of Portugal and offers the rural tranquillity that makes a visit relaxing with an opportunity to get amongst some superb fishing.

All you need to do is get a flight out to Faro and we do the rest, picking you up and taking you out to this super hotel, take you to the fishing daily, provide tackle (if required), the bait and when you finish, take you back to the airport for return home.

The fishing

This a dam of around 140 acres that was constructed for irrigation purposes some 50 years ago. It has little in the way of snags or underwater features as it was purpose created and levelled. The fish stocks are Barbel, Black bass and Carp, the latter being truly wild, hard fighting commons, that vary from 3 to 18lbs in weight in the general day to day catches. There are mirror carp too and undoubtedly fish of weights from 20lb, 30lb and probably fish in excess of 40lbs that have managed to continue to grow from the initial stocking. A challenge to you to come out and catch them?

You are likely to think that even one of the middle sized fish will be the fish of a lifetime as they fight so hard from the moment they are hooked! Andy Little in his Anglers Mail article, following a trip out to sample this fishing stated that he thought "these are the hardest fighting carp, in the world!"

The weather here is superb, even during the Winter so there is no reason why you couldn't make this a 'get away venue' when the weather and fishing in the UK is cold and miserable. You will know the carp are feeding in such warm conditions.

The lake is just a few minutes away from the gate of the hotel, so there is no early starts to get out to the fishing and you can fish later too and be back at the hotel in minutes too at the end of a what is likely to be an arm aching day playing those hard fighting carp! There are other waters in easy reach that we can fish, we take a boat to feed at long range and a bait boat for fishing features that are out of immediate casting range.

Back from the fishing

Once back at the hotel you can shower and refresh, go to the bar and get some cool beer and wine before a meal in the restaurant, or take a refreshing dip in the pool where you can be served drinks as you unwind and relax before an evening meal and a recap of the days fishing.
