Bass![]() Top method used by semi professional fishermen on the west coast who report catches up to 100kg of bass in one day to this method. Not for the faint hearted, but here it is, get into the water in a wet suit is advised, you then fish the tide down to low water spinning around the giant rocks using rubber worms, for casting weight use a smooth sliding lead bullet stopped 6ft from the worm with a bead and swivel. MulletAgain using a bubble float for casting weight but here about 6ft down the line we use a Mepp's spinner baited with ragworm, very effective even in rivers 30 miles from the sea. Take a few pounds of sardines and smash them into a paste, add sardine oil and a bag of prepared sea ground bait available from all tackle shops and most supermarkets. Mix this into a sloppy mix by adding water. Feed this into your chosen fishing spot with a large ladel, very effective from cliffs and breakwaters. The mullet, bass, mackerel and garfish charge into the area like piranhas. Fish light, 6lb fluorocarbon line if possible, small hook, no lead on line, bubble float. The best bait is sardine, the Portuguese use the guts from sardine held on the hook with nylon pulled from a PAIR OF TIGHTS. |
